Ambassador speaks at Institute for Security and Development Policy

On 3rd December, Ambassador Banashri Bose Harrison, was invited by the Institute for Security and Development Policy(ISDP) to give a talk on India’s National Security – Challenges & Policies.

In her presentation, Ambassador Harrison emphasized the comprehensive nature of National Security in today\'s context.She explained that from a strategic point of view, National Security had multiple dimensions depending on the geographical perspective and the nature of threat. It embraced security in the immediate eighbourhood, in the region and against the global background. Ambassador briefly described India’s concerns and policies in all the three contexts. She went on to speak about different components of security depending on the nature of the threat and touched on a wide range of issues including military, economic, food, energy and environmental challenges faced by India.

The talk was well received by the audience who asked questions about India\'s approach to Environment security, Cyber security, relationship with China and the Naxalite problem.

ISDP is a Stockholm-based independent and non-profit research and policy institute whose primary areas of focus are Asia and Europe’s neighbourhood.  The talk was part of the Asia Forum of ISDP.  The Asia Program of ISDP is oriented towards the Eastern part of the Eurasian continent including the East Asian, Central Asian,and South Asian regions.
