          The 10-member Gujarati Dance Troupe 'Saptak' sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations visited Latvia from 20-26th September.In Riga they participated in the celebrations 'Summer Solstice - 2014' to commemorate the declaration of the city as the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2014.The troupe performed on 21st and 22nd June at Mazepark, the venue of the celebrations and won the hearts of the audience with their colourful dresses, with enchanting music and lively dances.The organisers awarded an appreciation certificate to the troupe.

          On 24th June, 2014 the group traveled to Liepaja and gave the first ever performance in this port city by an Indian cultural troupe. The audience were enthralled by the rhythmic movements of Garba and Raas. After the performance ended, Mr. Kamal Bhasin, the President of the Indo Baltic Federation of Commerce and Culture who compered for the performacne and the troupe leader Chetan Jethava taught dance steps to the audience who enthusiastically joined them on the stage. The performance in Liepaja was organised with the support of Liepaja Symphony Amber Sound Orchestra and marks the beginning of active cultural exchanges between the city and India.
