        Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia, Mrs.Banashri Bose Harrison participated in the 2ndAyurvedic Conference held on 30th April, 2014 organized by the University of Latvia at the History Museum of Latvian University. Dr. U. Indulal of Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam& Research Institute, Coimbatore presented the basics of diagnostics according to traditional Ayurveda and outlined the Curriculum of the Ayurvedic course planned at the University of Latvia.

        Following the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between University of Latvia and the Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam and Research Institute, managed by the Ayurvedic Trust, Coimbatore during the conferenceto offer various Ayurvedic continuing education programs (Diploma/Graduate/Post Graduate) and to begin this collaborative venture with a Post Graduate Certificate Course for western medical graduates.The MOU was signed by Dr. U. Indulal on behalf of AVP Coimbatore and Rector, Prof.MarcisAuzins on behalf of the University of Latvia.

        The MoU was signed in the presence of Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia, Mrs.Banashri Bose Harrison. She recalled that the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of Health Care and Medical Science signed between the India and Latvia in 2012 had envisaged cooperation in the area of exchange of information including on Ayurveda and welcomed the signing of the MOU which was significant step in achieving that goal. Sheassured the University of Embassy's support for the promotion and smooth conduct of the planned academic programs.

        This MoU is an important to building block in globalization of Ayurveda,as the proposed education programs will be conducted by a reputed University in Europe and aims to train western medical doctors in practice of Ayurveda in a professional way so that patients can benefit from modern medicine as well as traditional knowledge.
