Celebrations of The 68th Republic Day of India in Stockholm

Flag hoisting ceremony to commemorate the Republic Day of India 2017

The 68th Republic Day of India was celebrated on 26 January 2017 at ABF, Sveavägen, Stockholm. Despite it being a working day, over 100 members of the Indian community attended the flag-hoisting ceremony for the 68th Republic Day including a large number of children and students for whom it was an opportunity to connect and learn about India and its journey of growth since the formation of the Republic.

After the unfurling of the Tricolour by Ambassador Ms. Monika Kapil Mohta, the President's address was webcast to the audience. A short address by Ambassador Mohta followed touching upon the core issues raised in the Address by the President and then highlighting the growth of bilateral relations between India and Sweden and how every Indian in Sweden can contribute towards the strengthening of relations between our two countries. She also underlined that the Embassy would always extend all possible help to all Indians. 

Short cultural programmes by Srutilaya, Flavourz Indian Students’ Association, KTH, and Omkara groups, mainly by children, followed showcasing the history of India’s Independence and the strength of its diversity. Light refreshments of Indian snacks were served at the end.
