AMBASSADOR HOSTS CEO Roundtable ON ‘INDIA-SWEDEN DIGITAL CONCLAVE’ WITH MR. S.N. SUBRAHMANYAN OF L & T AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER

1. A CEO Breakfast Roundtable on "India-Sweden Digital Conclave" was hosted by Ambassador Banashri Bose Harrison at the India House in Stockholm on 8 June 2016. The event was aimed at promoting Swedish participation in the development of Smart Cities in India from the digital perspective. The Round table was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with Business Sweden and the Sweden India Business Council (SIBC).

2. The Roundtable was attended by about 30 CEOs and Senior representatives of a number of Swedish companies, including ABB AB, Atlas Copco, Ericsson, Arris, SSAB Group, SAAB Group, Sweco, Envac AB, Connode AB, Forsway AB, Datapath, and Bombardier Transportation Sweden AB. The Swedish Credit Guarantee Agency was also represented at the gathering.

3. The keynote speaker at the Roundtable was Mr. S.N. Subrahmanyan, Director of the Board of L & T, Head of Infrastructure and Construction and President of L&T Infotech and Management. He gave an informative PowerPoint presentation on "Smart World & Communication" and briefed the participants about India’s economic outlook. He spoke about the progressive use of digital technology for the welfare of the Indian citizens such as the AADHAAR programme. He described different aspects of India’s Smart Cities programme and spoke about L & T’s active involvement in its implementation.

4. The Roundtable was moderated by Mr. Gautam Bhattacharya, board member of SIBC. In the Q&A session that followed the keynote presentation, Mr. Subramanyan provided more information about different collaboration opportunities available in India.

5. In her concluding remarks, the Ambassador said that India is a happening place where challenges are being addressed successfully and that Swedish companies should focus on India’s specific needs and make in India if they wanted to reap the benefits of the huge and growing market it offered.
